COVID-19 and EP

Last updated Sunday 28th February, 10.55AM

This page has the most up-to-date information from ep.education regarding COVID-19.

We recommend that you refer to the Ministry of Education's website for education-specific guidelines.

As of midnight February 22nd 2021, Auckland is back at Alert Level 3 and the rest of New Zealand is at Alert Level 2.

Details about the Alert Levels can be found on the Government's COVID-19 website. You can also read the most recent information from the Ministry of Education here.

Our Schools & Centres

Schools & Centres Using Relief Staff Expand
We work with lots of relief teachers who are keen to support and get back into the classroom, so if you have any short-term staffing needs, you can contact our temporary recruitment teams here or call 0508 TEACHER.
Schools & Centres Employing Permanent and Long-term Teachers from Overseas Expand

The closure of the NZ border will have affected the ability for some overseas teachers to start working at your school as scheduled. For an update on your specific situation, please contact your EP recruiter.

We will continue to support you and give you as much clarity and guidance we possibly can to support you through this situation.

Our Teachers

Relief Teachers working with ep.education Expand

Updated 1/03/2021

Auckland relief teachers working with us with bookings during Level 3 have had their recruiters speak to them individually to update them on the situation. Relief teachers working with us throughout the rest of the country shouldn't be affected by the shift up into Alert Level 2.

The MOE released a special bulletin (28/02) about the latest news and have given advice to schools: "day relief or casual staff who have been booked for work during the Alert Level 3 restrictions should be paid for this booking."

If you would like some more information about the COVID-19 situation may be affecting you and/or your ability to work, please contact your local EP office for a chat with one of our Temporary Recruitment Consultants by calling 0508 TEACHER ext 1.

Teachers Due to Arrive in New Zealand & Overseas Teachers Expand

On 19 March 2020, it was announced that from 11.59PM that night, NZ borders are shut to everyone except NZ citizens and residents, with few exceptions. This announcement will affect some teachers who are due to arrive in NZ and begin a teaching role here. Please contact your EP recruiter for an update on your specific situation.

If your journey to New Zealand becomes more complicated as a result of COVID-19, please stay in touch with your EP recruiter or the EP Dream Jobs team.

We ran a webinar on Monday 30th March where we updated overseas teachers (not yet in NZ) who are wanting to teach in NZ on the current situation and answered many of their questions. This webinar was recorded and can be viewed here.

Ourselves

Last updated 28/02/2021

With the move back into Alert Level 3, any Auckland relief teachers working with us with upcoming bookings can expect their recruiter to get in touch with them as soon as possible. Relief teachers working with us throughout the rest of the country, your upcoming bookings shouldn't be affected by the shift up into Alert Level 2.
As has been the case when alert levels have shifted, the EP are all equipped to work remotely when needed and can be reached using all our usual contact methods.

We encourage everyone to stay up to date on the situation by checking the COVID-19 website & the Ministry of Education website.

Noho ora mai,
The EP team
